Your Position In Heaven
18/12/13 12:58 Filed in: Inspirational
People often think of heaven in terms of “someday,” or “when Messiah returns,” or some other words, which are always futuristic in scope. But the fact of the matter is that you already occupy a position in heaven right this minute.
Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation). And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One). —Ephesians 2:5-6 (AMP)
There is a difference between what is referred to as “situational truth” (also known as literal truth), and “positional truth.”
The careful reader will notice that the verbs in the above cited passage are all in the past tense. They are, therefore, not future promises, but present realities which were secured for us in the past. Those two verses declare the five (5) aspects of your position.
Not one of those aspects is for the future; each one is true of you right now. These five (5) aspects are a revelation of how the Father sees you, not cast aside, but in Christ. From the Father’s perspective, whatever was accomplished by the Messiah through his earthly ministry, his crucifixion, his resurrection, his ascension, and his enthronement belongs to you already. And not only does it belong to you NOW, but you have access to it NOW.
Now I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that the reason we were given this revelation was not so I would have something to blog about. Nope, we were given this revelation as the foundation upon which we can encounter God’s ability in our day-to-day lives. The Father’s desire is, obviously, that what is true of us positionally may become true of us in a practical way.
Now, before I drop the bomb on you, I want you to think about something. While you are sitting there reading this blog article, I want you to think about all the things Yeshua is. Think of all the creamy goodness that is Yeshua. Let me know when you are finished...
...
OK. Now that you have thought of all that Yeshua is, I need you to take a look at 1 John 4:17 which says:
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
Did you get that? As HE is so are WE in THIS world.
If I may paraphrase just a bit I would like to put it this way.
As HE is so are WE, HERE AND NOW.
The Father has purposed to see every believer as being positioned on the throne with Christ in the heavenlies. And the timing on that is NOW; as he is, so are we in this world (here and now).
Sadly, many people simply refuse to profess to be enthroned with Christ until they see themselves living like kings on earth. This is the “seeing is believing” syndrome. What God declares you to be right now in Christ, you should reckon yourself as being nothing less. You must declare yourself to BE now what the Father says you ARE now in Christ.
Some people declare (though many think it just the same) that if you say you are enthroned while your blessed assurance is parked in a La-Z-Boy® recliner, while you are entangled in some sin is just lying. This simply is not true from a Scriptural perspective. You are merely overriding one set of fact with a greater and far superior set of facts. One truth is altered by the application of a greater truth.
There is a spiritual law at work in each of our lives. It works whether you know about it or not. It works whether you believe it or not. It works whether you want it to or not. That spiritual law may be stated this way:
When your confession matches your position, then your situation will begin to match your position. When you change your confession then your situation will change.
I am certainly not suggesting that you deny the truth of your situation, which may be one of fear, dread, sin, sickness, defeat, etc. I am simply saying that instead of walking in denial, you should replace situational truth with positional truth. Whichever one of these truths you have the faith to give voice to is most assuredly going to nullify the other.
Just one last scripture and I will close for the day.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. —Mark 11:23-24
From verse 23 we see, “...shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
I have shown you in Ephesians what the Father says about you. You do not have to come up with something on your own. You do not have to wade through volumes of theology in an attempt to find something to declare that will have the Father’s blessing attached to it. What the Father has declare already has his blessing on it; it comes to us pre-blessed. Go back and re-read Ephesians 2:5-6. Will you be bold enough to believe what the Father has said? Will you believe it and not doubt in your heart? If so then your CONFESSION will then match your POSITION.
From verse 24 we see, “Whatsoever things you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.”
Can you see that your POSITION, as the Father sees it, is your basis for CONFESSION out from under your SITUATION as you see it?
There is no point in giving voice to your SITUATION. Speak the solution to your SITUATION based upon your faith in the POSITION in which the Father sees you. I believe his vantage point is a little better than yours.
